There are a number of spiritual principles that are common to multiple paths and traditions, and when similar ideas crop up again and again, it makes a great deal of sense to explore them further. To assist you in that effort, over the next few weeks I will highlight some of the main ‘universal spiritual principles’ that can be found in multiple belief systems, both ancient and modern.
My aim here is not to present these principles as statements of fact which are to be accepted blindly, for that is the approach of an Adopter, and not at all the way of a Seeker. Rather, my aim here is simply to provide an objective summary of each principle so that you can give each one careful consideration before deciding whether or not it is one that resonates with you. Where possible, I will include one or two suggestions for further study which are likely to be helpful to those of you who wish to delve deeper into any given principle.
With all of that in mind, here is a brief overview of the universal spiritual principles that I will be discussing in my posts over the coming weeks:
#01 – The Creative Principle
This principle states that there is a Creative Principle at work in the universe. Whether it is referred to as God, Infinite Intelligence or simply as Source, this Creative Principle is usually described as being omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent, which means all-knowing, all-powerful and in all places.
#02 – The Spiritual Principle
This principle states that you are not simply a flesh and blood organism, but that you are in fact a spiritual being which is only temporarily residing in a flesh and blood ‘suit’. Your spiritual aspect is directly connected to – and in some traditions, it is synonymous with – the Creative Principle itself.
#03 – The Immortality Principle
This principle states that, because you are a spiritual being, you are also an immortal being. You, as spirit, existed before the birth of your physical body, and you will continue to exist after the death of your physical body.
#04 – The Unity Principle
This principle states that there is no real separation between you and the rest of the universe, or between the universe and the Creative Principle itself. Whilst we experience physical life in a state of apparent duality, any sense of separateness is actually quite illusory, and on a spiritual level there is only unity.
#05 – The Karmic Principle
This principle states that the universe operates according to the law of cause and effect. Your intentions and actions have definite and unavoidable consequences, both physically and spiritually, and understanding this law of causality can help you to live mindfully in accordance with it.
#06 – The Resonance Principle
This principle states that you experience external events that are largely in tune with your spiritual expectations. Although this principle is often referred to in today’s popular literature as the ‘law of attraction’, it is one which has been taught and used for many thousands of years.

There are many other additional principles which will be discussed here at Spirituality for Seekers in due course, but for the next few weeks I will focus on taking a look at the main principles that I have just mentioned.
My first post in this new series will be published shortly. In the meantime, if you haven’t already done so, I would encourage you to sign up to this website (using the simple Subscribe box in the sidebar to the right of this page) to receive automatic notifications of new posts as they are published. I would also ask you to consider sharing posts that you find of value on social networks using the buttons displayed at the foot of each post – an act of kindness which, according to the karmic principle, could benefit you just as much as it will benefit your fellow Seekers.
